How to determine Coefficient of Viscosity

Image
In study of Fluid Mechanics the viscosity is one of the major properties of fluid which is taken in consideration while analysing fluid motion.  Viscosity- is an fluid property which tends to oppose or resist the motion of one layer of fluid over another layer. Viscosity in fluids is analogous to friction in solids. The first basic formula for it was given by Newton and the Law is known as Newton's law of viscosity . It tells that Shear Stress between adjacent fluid layers is directly proportional to the rate of change of velocity.                                                                                                Ï„ =  μ*( du/dy)                                                                          where  Ï„=  Shear Stress;  μ= Coefficient of Viscosity(dynamic) ;  ( du/dy)= rate of change of velocity. Methods to determine Coefficient of Viscosity the following are the experimental methods to calculate  coefficient of Viscosity 1. Capillary tube Method 2. Falling sphe

For past 2 months I have been receiving a huge traffic from Romania but I don't know how they find my blog or I don't know the referring url. I would request all people from Romania or any other country to visit my blog by organic means or by just google search.  Blog Link : https://farooq22.blogspot.com A small feedback from viewers about blog content will be appreciated.

Free Software: 5 best Free softwares which are alternative to paid ones

Image
Although I am not reviewer but during the lockdown days at home we must utilize the time to full potential as this *free time will never come again. Learning new skills whether physical or computer related not only boost your mind but also give you an edge in career options. Below mentioned are 5 free software you must try and learn : 1.        Inkscape Inkscape is an vector graphics app. It competes with the Adobe Illustrator. While a majority of the people are using Illustrator just because it comes under adobe, a company which is in software development for a long time and had variety of worldwide used softwares like acrobat reader, photoshop. But all these are paid ones which students and freelancers are not willing to pay. Many of us are already using free cracked version of these but now time has changed. With Inkscape like free professional softwares in the market creators are going there as it reduces the hassle to download old cracked version and risking your computers securit

What's special in 2020

Image
As the title of post contain the 2020 ,many of you might be wondering about the COVID 19 and Lockdown and thinking what's special in it dude. But let me explain that this has nothing to do with all such events ,its something special other than this . The number 2020 tells about itself , Yes , Give me a couple of minutes and i will explain all the stuff. 2020 0    1     2    3  The first number 2 tells the no of times 0's is coming in the number, ie 0 is coming two times in the number The second number 0 tells the no of times 1's is coming in the number, ie 1 is not in the number The third number 2 tells the no of times 2's is coming in the number,  ie 2 is coming two times in the number The fourth number 0 tells the no of times 3's is coming in the number, ie 3 is not in the number You are right if you think that such a number should be pompous self-centered whose only purpose in life is to describe itself. The no 2020is not only in the list 21200,3211000 are some o

Notches and Weirs- Their classification and types

Image
Notch- is a device used for measuring the rate of flow or discharge of a liquid through  small channel or tank. Weir- is a concrete or masonry structure, placed in an open channel over which the flow occurs. It is form of vertical wall , with the sharp edge at the top, running all the way across the open channel. Notches Weirs 1. A notch may be defined as an opening provided in one side of a tank or reservoir, with upstream liquid level below the top edge of opening. 1. A weir may be defined as a structure constructed across a river or canal to store water on the upstream side. 2. The sheet of water flowing through a notch is called Nappe.  2. The sheet of water flowing over a weir is called Vein.  3. The bottom edge of a notch is called Crest. 3. The bottom edge of a weir is called Sill. 4. Usually made of metallic plates.  4. Weir is a concrete or masonry structure 5. Measures small discharge of small stream, lake or canal. 5. It can measure large disch

Hydraulic Machines -Turbines, and its Classification

Image
Turbines are defined as the hydraulic machines which convert hydraulic energy into mechanical energy . This mechanical energy is used in running an electric generator which is directly coupled to the shaft of turbine. Thus the mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy . The electric power which is obtained from the hydraulic energy (Energy of water) is known as Hydroelectric power . At present the generation of hydroelectric power is the cheapest as compared by the power generated by other source such a oil, coal etc. Some Facts about the present day water turbines Johann Segner developed a reactive water turbine (Segner wheel) in the mid-18th century. In 1820, Jean-Victor Poncelet developed an inward-flow turbine. In 1826, Benoit Fourneyron developed an outward-flow turbine. This was an efficient machine (~80%) that sent water through a runner with blades curved in one dimension. The stationary outlet also had curved guides. In 1849, James B. Francis improved
